The prodigy of music Inaugural concert · Saturday, September 13 · 5:00 pm · Symphonic Hall, Centro de Bellas Artes, Santurce Borinquen Sinfonietta arrives to change the way we experience classical music: not as a relic admired from afar, but as a living, close, and personal experience, with the Puerto Rican essence at the center and not on the margins. And to open its first season, it has chosen a theme that is, in itself, a statement of principles: wonder. Rossini, Mozart, and Bizet have something in common. All three were child prodigies: as mere teenagers, they were already writing music that the world has continued to play. That spark — the talent that ignites early and dazzles — is the thread that connects the entire program. And to embody it, a prodigy of our time takes the stage. Wilson Liu, originally from California, was admitted at the age of seven to the Pre-College Division of the Juilliard School, where he received the Bachauer Award with a full scholarship. He has been the Grand Prize winner of the XIV International Chopin Piano Competition in Hartford, has performed in PBS's Great Performances series, and has won first prizes in competitions across the United States, Europe, and Asia. In San Juan, he will perform one of the peaks of the repertoire: Mozart's Piano Concerto in D minor, K. 466. Program Rossini — Overture to La scala di seta Mozart — Piano Concerto in D minor, K. 466 Bizet — Symphony in C major And there will be something more. That night we have a surprise that does not appear in the program: an unannounced moment, destined to make history in Puerto Rico. Those who are in the hall will be able to say they were there. Secure your seat.
